NZ Raelian Movement Supports Naked Cyclist, Nick Lowe
Nick Lowe recently made headlines when a motorist called police after spotting the 40 year old cycling naked near Upper Hutt. Nick was subsequently slapped with a $200 fine and convicted of 'offensive behaviour.'
Says Mark Woodgate, representative of the NZ Raelian Movement, "Since when did nudity become a crime? That police should convict him of 'offensive behaviour is laughable. Nothing could be considered more natural or beautiful than the naked human body. '
Nick has gone on record by stating he is not an exhibitionist, that it is merely his personal preference to go without clothes which he finds restrictive and uncomfortable. As an athlete he regularly works out naked, and when he competed in last years Coast to Coast cycling event he was naked from the waist down. If nudity was a crime, then surely Nick should have been arrested many times over!
And that's just the point. Nudity is NOT a crime. Human beings should be fundamentally free to express themselves as they choose, providing of course that no-one is harmed. If someone finds nudity offensive then perhaps it's more likely a reflection of a very outdated puritanical style of thinking...born out of the Middle Ages!
Mark explains that we’re ALL born naked and children feel no shame in their nudity until society and religion program them otherwise"
The Raelian philosophy explains that the human body is one of the greatest works of art, the result of a scientific creation that should be cherished and celebrated.
"We’re created "in the image" of our creators, the Elohim, an advanced race of people from another planet, so what could be shameful about nudity?" concluded Mark Woodgate.
