LAS VEGAS, Jan. 25 – “I wish to express my full support and admiration to Iranian artist and activist Golshifteh Farahani, for her courage in appearing nude publicly,” said Negar Azizmoradi, national leader of the Iranian Raelian Movement, in a statement released today by the International Raelian Movement.

A nude photo of Farahani published by “Le Figaro Madame,” a French magazine, attracted a wave of visitors from Iran and the Middle East to Farahani's Facebook page, according to media reports.

Azizmoradi and Farahani have much in common, for both stood up against Iranian oppression and left Iran.

Azizmoradi, a personal friend of Farahani, was admitted to the United States as a refugee in December 2011 after fleeing Iranian oppression two years ago. Farahani, now based in Paris, left Iran a year ago to protest its restrictive Islamic codes, including those imposed on the Iranian cinema industry by Ahmadinejad's ultraconservative cultural policies.

“As a well-known and successful actress, it was already quite courageous for Golshifteh to take the risk of acting against policies of the Iranian regime by appearing in a Hollywood movie project in 2008,” Azizmoradi said, explaining that the role generated many problems for the actress and eventually led to her inevitable departure from Iran. “She left behind all the advantages and possibilities of a well-known Iranian actress to live in a foreign country, far from the people who admire her and her art,” Azizmoradi added. “And this latest revolutionary stand – having her nude picture published in a famous magazine and appearing in a video that illustrates the beauty of nudity from an artistic viewpoint – was again very brave, considering the strict religious and traditional taboos of Iranian society.”

Azizmoradi said Farahani undoubtedly faces bitter comments from a majority of the Iranian people.

“They have primitive thoughts of shame regarding nudity, and more importantly, of discrimination toward women,” she explained. “Iranian society is sick, and we need to help it heal by eliminating all of its superstitions and all of its deeply rooted religious and traditional taboos.”

Raelian philosophy states that all of Earth’s living forms, including human beings, were created by advanced scientists from another planet. Accordingly, hiding the human body is like hiding a masterpiece of their creation, while nudity is beautiful.

Rael, spiritual leader of the Raelian Movement, has declared his support for Australian artist Bill Henson, who recently presented an exhibition on nudity. And according to Rael, the unadorned human body is the most beautiful art show of all.

“Those against it are mentally disturbed and sexually obsessed by their religious education,” he admonished.

Rael also initiated the Raelian Movement’s well-known Go-Topless action in 2007 to help women reclaim their constitutional right to go bare-chested in public, as men do.

“We need more women like Golshifteh in the Middle East,” Azizmoradi said. “In my opinion, by appearing nude in this video, she acted the best role of her life by stimulating the consciousness her nation's people. She has all my love and support as an Iranian woman, as her fan and as her friend.”
