TOKYO, May 21 – Rael, spiritual leader of the Raelian Movement, today expressed his full support for the Saudi Arabian Interior Ministry’s decision to declare the Islamic Hirji calendar the sole permitted method of date-reckoning in Saudi Arabia.
“This is a great move that all non-Christian countries should copy,” Rael said in a statement released this morning. “Saudi Arabia should now push the United Nations to adopt a neutral calendar, as I recommended in the ICACCI project.”
Rael founded ICACCI, the International Committee Against Christian Calendar Imperialism (www.icacci.org), to unite non-Christians who oppose use of the Gregorian calendar, which is imposed on them at every level. In today’s statement, he went even further, encouraging all Saudi Arabian political, cultural and religious leaders to insist that the United Nations abandon and replace that calendar.
“It’s totally unacceptable that the United Nations, a body that is supposed to represent all of humanity, uses a religious calendar that neglects all the other religions,” Rael explained. “A neutral calendar could be adopted instead. For example, it could be based on a historical, nonreligious event such as the Hiroshima bombing or the founding of the United Nations.”
According to Rael, the United Nations’ unwillingness to replace the Gregorian calendar proves that it fails to represent all of humanity and serves as a puppet of the Western Christian nations by promoting religious colonialism.
“Christians are a minority worldwide,” Rael said. “They represent only 1. 5 billion people out of humanity’s total of 7 billion. How can the United Nations dare to use a minority calendar to sign worldwide declarations, if not out of religious colonialism?”
