LAS VEGAS, June 6 – According to a statement released today, Rael, spiritual leader of the International Raelian Movement, has awarded the title of “Honorary Guide for Humanity” to Bolivian President Evo Morales.

In explaining his decision to award the honor, Rael cited Morales’s “actions against U.S. imperialism and international mega-capitalism in South America.”

“Rael has repeatedly expressed support for President Morales’s actions toward achieving the true decolonization of his country,” said Raelian Guide Brigitte Boisselier, spokesperson for the Raelian Movement. “He has especially praised President Morales’s decisions to support the re-adoption of the original, native religions by the indigenous people of Bolivia."

"In July 2013, Rael denounced the insulting way European countries denied President Morales's flight over their territories. Austria even imposed a search of his plane. At the time, Rael said such countries should get inspiration from the kind of presidency President Morales represents. He is defending the rights of his people against the biggest bully, the United States, and he is standing up against discrimination and offering asylum to true heroes like Edward Snowden.”

Raelians in Morales’s country are especially active in promoting the Raelian philosophy and the goals of the parent organization.

“Bolivia is the heart of the South American Raelian Movement,” said David Uzal, Raelian Guide and leader of the South American Raelian Movement. "Our last continental Happiness Academy was held there and the next one will also be in Samaipata.”

Uzal said Evo Morales is the 89th Honorary Guide for Humanity to be nominated by Rael.

“He awards this title only to individuals whose actions always place the interest of all humanity above their own wellbeing,” Uzal added.

He said Rael is currently in Japan, where he will lead the next International Happiness Academy on the island of Okinawa from June 11 to June 16. Hundreds of Raelian Guides and members are expected to attend.
